Trans Elands - COVID-19

With Trans Elands 2020 race day (scheduled for 6 June) fast approaching, we have had to carefully consider the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic from a health risk point of view and also due to the restrictions imposed on our riders and on us as race organisers, due to the lockdown enforced by our Government.

In our previous communication to you, we announced the cancellation of the 2020 Trans Elands 160km “extreme” and we said that we were still planning to stage the 2020 Trans Elands 60km “lite” and 30km “mini” on 6 June 2020.

However, at the time of our previous announcement, we weren’t yet aware of the details of the easing of the lockdown restrictions and how long this easing would take.  What we all know now, is that the easing of the lockdown is taking a lot longer than we anticipated, and we have no idea yet when gatherings (incl. cycling events) will be allowed to be held again.

We therefore have no choice but to POSTPONE the 2020 Trans Elands 60km “lite” and 30km “mini” until further notice.  Once we have clarity on the way forward regarding the staging of cycling events during the remainder of 2020, we will make further announcements w.r.t. the 2020 Trans Elands 60km “lite” and 30km “mini”.
