This race is an Official Premier Seeding Event for the 2017 Cape Town Cycle Tour. This route no longer goes through the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve.

The race is organised by Gary Beneke in aid of the Frances Vorwerg School for Cerebral Palsied and Learning Disabled Children.
